LES MILLS & ROOSTER RACING JOIN FORCES TO BEAT CANCER

Les Mills International is proud to announce it has joined forces with the Rooster Racing cycle team to help raise awareness and money for people affected by cancer around the world.

Rooster Racing hopes to enlist more than 10,000 donors and raise US$100,000 by participating in a series of three LIVESTRONG® Challenge cycling events staged by the Lance Armstrong Foundation around the United States.

The 2011 LIVESTRONG® events are:

  • Davis, California, on July 10
  • Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, on August 20-21
  • Austin, Texas, on October 15-16

The Rooster Racing team features many instructors who teach Les Mills RPM® - the indoor bike program - and was founded by former RPM® Program Director Dan McDonogh. The team will tap into the Les Mills US instructor network to promote their cause with the aim of winning LIVESTRONG's coveted Messenger Award as the team with the most individual donors.

But the world's leading group fitness exponents may also find more direct ways to back the US fundraising drive. Already, Fitmarc - south central US distributor for Les Mills - has pledged $1 for every instructor on its subscription database. That's more than 3000 donors and US$3000.

“Rooster Racing are great ambassadors for the fight against cancer and we feel their goals are perfectly aligned with our own message of creating life-changing fitness experiences,” says Les Mills Marketing Director Vaughan Schwass.

“They also epitomize the physical and emotional qualities of the RPM® indoor cycling program, so we're very happy to assist in any way possible to further their cause.”

The Rooster Racing team was created in 2007 with a mission statement “Do Good. Ride Hard. Live Well”, and has official chapters around the planet, including in the US, New Zealand, France, Canada, Indonesia, Australia, Denmark and more. The line-up also features team captain Jim Ray and managing director Chris Cygul, both RPM® instructors.

“We're honored to be part of the Les Mills ‘tribe' and its mission to change lives,” says Dan McDonogh. “Rooster Racing was created to be an extension of this - to change lives via the bike.

“Our vision extends beyond the walls of any indoor cycling room. It extends to roads, pathways and trails in communities across the globe.”

“We're extremely happy that Les Mills has come on board as a sponsor to help spread not only our message but that of the LIVESTRONG® movement.”

Rooster Racing has already begun its 2011 US fundraising drive and the best ways to contribute are through the team's fundraising website (www.roostersunited.org ), Facebook (www.facebook.com/teamroosterracing ) or via www.lesmills.com/roosterracing.
